Description

We will pick you up at the coordinated meeting point in San Pedro de Atacama at the indicated time to head towards the Andes Mountains, crossing the vast plains of the Chilean highlands. We will travel 150 kilometers while we observe through the bus window the best examples of flora and fauna in the area, until we reach the Licancabur volcano, which acts as a natural border between Chile and Bolivia. Did you know that it is more than 5900 meters high? The cone of this stratovolcano crowns the landscape of the Chilean highlands, where we will also find such outstanding points as the Quepiaco wetland. It is an extensive plain of endemic vegetation located at the foot of the volcanic mountain range that we will visit during the tour. Next, we will head east and stop so you can take a photo with the Pakana Monks. These geological formations shaped by wind erosion were considered stone sentinels by the ancient cultures that lived in the highlands. Are you hungry? Don't worry, at noon we will take a break to regain strength. Lunch can be on the road (includes a main dish or a drink) or in a restaurant (includes a main dish, to choose between two options, and a drink). Later we will travel to the Aguas Calientes and Quisquiro salt flats, two deposits that form extensive white beaches of this chemical compound. The contrast with the Andean mountain range makes these places seem taken from another world. In addition, we will make one last stop to visit the Black Lagoon. Can you guess why it has that name? From here, we will resume the trip back to San Pedro de Atacama and we will leave you in the small square in the center of the town after seven and a half hours of travel.
