Teatro Municipal de Las Condes

The story begins in 2004, when Mayor Francisco de la Maza made a commitment to the commune to build a large performance hall and replace the small Apoquindo Theater, which was located in the place now occupied by the Town Hall Building. The building authority was the one who headed the work team made up of architects, engineers, designers, technicians, specialists, municipal officials and even the neighbors themselves. In May of that year, important architectural offices presented the projects to build the Theater. After a careful analysis, public exhibitions and repeated consultations with the neighbors, the proposal presented by the architectural office of Eduardo San Martín and Pedro Gastón Pascal was chosen, characterized by its transparency and for constituting a contemporary expression that balancedly combined the avant garde with the care of the characteristic heritage of the commune of Las Condes.
The area dedicated to the Theater is located on the 5 basement levels, in an area of 5,500 m2. It is equipped with all the architecture and technology to satisfy both the needs of the spectators and the assembly of the shows and performances. Due to its structure and versatility, it can host a play, lyrical shows, small musical groups or a symphony orchestra. Likewise, the stage is large, complex and mechanized, which favors its adaptability. The stage floor is designed so that the audience can hear the real magnitude of the movements of the actors, such as the dancers, a condition that constitutes an essential factor in a ballet scene. Everything is made possible, furthermore, thanks to the fact that the room is covered with noble woods that increase the intimate atmosphere that should reign in any type of show. The Municipal Theater of Las Condes raised its curtain to the public for the first time on the afternoon of August 25, 2010 and to date has presented more than 550 works on its stages and had more than 1 million attendees who have been able to enjoy the quality , professionalism and diversity of both national and international assemblies. Musicals like Chicago, Cats, Don Quixote, Saturday Night Fever, Mamma Mia and Mercury the Legend; operas such as Madama Butterfly, Così Fan Tutte and La Traviata; plays such as The Monsters, Hamlet, The Cherry Orchard, They Were All My Children; ballet such as Swan Lake, Aladdin, Nutcracker, Snow White, Flamenco Hoy, National Ballet of Spain and Farruquito and artists such as Diego el Cigala, Armando Manzanero, Manuel García, Mayumana, Estrella Morente, Los Quincheros, Ara Malikian and Inti-illimani These are just some of the great titles that have been presented on the stage of the Las Condes Municipal Theater from its inception to date. Currently, the Las Condes Municipal Theater has a team of more than 40 people who, every day, make possible the execution of the wide range of shows offered on its billboard.
